Whilst working as the Lead Designer at OVO Energy, our Design and Branding Director, Ben Mills played a pivotal role in the comprehensive rebranding of the company. He led his team with a vision to create a distinct and memorable brand identity. By thoroughly analysing existing brand assets, Ben and his team identified key elements that defined OVO Energy’s essence. They meticulously reduced and eliminated components that did not align with the new vision, ensuring a cohesive and streamlined brand narrative. This strategic approach not only revitalised the brand’s visual identity but also reinforced its core values and mission.

Additionally, emphasising the importance of consistency and innovation in the rebranding process. He encouraged his team to think creatively and push boundaries, resulting in a brand identity that stood out in the energy sector. Through collaborative brainstorming sessions and iterative design reviews, they developed a set of guidelines that were both flexible and robust, capable of adapting to various marketing channels and platforms.

Another notable accomplishment is the series of brand-owned photoshoots. Moving away from heavy use of stock images, Ben Mills and his team proposed a series of lifestyle shoots that seamlessly integrated into the OVO brand world. These photoshoots captured demographics and consumer actions in their fullest, with subtle brand elements embedded, allowing for cohesive storytelling within web pages and communications.
